LOW SELF-ESTEEM CAN BE DEALT WITH.
According to Grand rapids counseling services [GRCS], the statistic of the people who have low self-esteem happens to be 85%. This is a huge percentage, does it mean that just 15% of the people in the world have high opinion of themselves? When I did my researches I got to know that it is feasible. Low self-esteem has many causes which makes it possible for a lot of people to be affected by it.
So many things have caused people to not have a healthy self-esteem. Such as; emotional distant parents, academic failures, guilt associated with religion, social beauty standards, bullying with no parent protection, sexual, physical, or emotional abuse and contentious divorce between parents.
A child who grew in a home where there was always chaos between the two parents may likely be scared to get married because he had believed it won’t work. Someone who got bullied and abused by friends at school, maybe with his/her stature or his/her shape of nose with no support from parents may likely grow up and not like his/her look. Failures also make one feel inferior about oneself. Any kind of abuse, being it physical, emotional, or sexual tends to make one have personality disorder.
However, the detriments of this inferiority complex is so effective and it denies many of their entitlement, joy, happiness, love and so many opportunities.
It takes confidence to ask a lady out, we have so many men that cannot even look a lady in the eye and I’m talking of men that are in their late 20’s, even more than that.
A lot of people are battling with low self-esteem just because they had an unhappy childhood, which has inflicted pain on them.
If someone will overcome this, the first step is to re-learn whatever that has been living in his/her head for ages. Until you have another knowledge about yourself, you will be caged in the prison of this false reality. Your perception about yourself and about life must be changed positively, then you can come into the real version of yourself. Until “I am fat” turns into “I have nice curves,” “I don’t deserve love” turns into “My loved ones value me,” “I am a failure” turns into “I can give it my best.” Until you realize that the crowd which you are afraid to speak before won’t beat you, then you will believe you can’t face the crowd. Your opinion about yourself matters.
After that, try to figure out the positive things you can engage in to improve your new belief, make friends that believe in you and be kind to yourself. What I mean by being kind to oneself is that you should think about the advice you would have given a friend in similar situation.
Groom yourself well enough with the books that can help you live a life of confidence, shut every doors of inferiority talks that may come from any angle and do not settle for them. You can deal with it[low self-esteem], yes, you can. ✍🏾
